I am from Kansas City originally. I attended college at The University of Kansas in Lawrence. In 2007 I moved to New York City where I attended the French Culinary Institute. I started my cooking career working on a ship named “The World” in the Mediterranean. I then worked at Allegretti restaurant in New York City, The Robert Morris Inn in Oxford Maryland, The Rieger Hotel in Kansas City Missouri, and Boulevard restaurant in San Francisco, California. I then spent time interning in the Test Kitchen at noma in Copenhagen before returning to Kansas City to open The Antler Room restaurant with my wife and business partner Leslie Newsam. I have been recognized as a semifinalist for the James Beard Awards 3 times.

The Antler Room is a 40 seat restaurant located in The Hospital Hill neighborhood of Kansas City, Missouri.Owned and operated by husband and wife duo Nick Goellner and Leslie Newsam. The menu and wine offerings change often, and the vibe is relaxed.
