I was born in Tijuana, Mexico and was greatly influenced by the Mexican-American culture of the city. My mother was from Mexico and my father was from the States. I went to school in Mexico until the age of 24. I studied communications at UABC focusing on multimedia and business communications. At this time I also started working in restaurants as a dishwasher to help pay for school. It was at this time that I found that I loved being in the kitchen and wanted to use cooking as my creative outlet. I took up Culinary Arts and the San Diego Job Corps and after 6 months I found that there was Sustainable Cuisine program at Colorado Mountain College. I decided to make the move to Colorado to further my education and knowledge of food. While enrolled at CMC, I started working at the Westin as a line cook. The kitchen here is where I affirmed that I wanted to be in the kitchen, working with different cuisines and becoming a responsible and dedicated chef. I have come up through the ranks in the Westin Riverfront kitchen and am proud to be the Executive Chef.
