As the Central Coast winemaker for the Duckhorn Portfolio, Katie brings more than 15 years of experience to her role helping to guide a winemaking program that reaches from Monterey County in the north to Santa Barbara County in the south. Working closely with Migration Winemaker Dana Epperson, Decoy Winemaker Tyson Wolf and VP of Central Coast Winegrowing P.J. Alviso, Katie is active at every stage of the winemaking process, from grower relations and harvest decisions to winemaking, blending and bottling. A gifted winemaker, who has dedicated her professional career to making wine on the Central Coast, Katie also oversees all custom crush operations in the region for the Duckhorn Portfolio.

Born in Sonoma County, Katie grew up in a family of avid wine enthusiasts. After graduating from Cal Poly with a degree in wine and viticulture in 2006, Katie was named the winemaker for the university's inaugural vintage of Cal Poly Wines. In the years that followed Katie served as lab manager for Kenneth Volk Wines, enologist for Niven Family Wine Estates and associate winemaker for Center of Effort Wines, before being named the winemaker for Cambria in 2015, where she spent three years working alongside acclaimed Winemaker and General Manager Denise Shurtleff.

Since joining the Duckhorn Portfolio in 2018, Katie has played an integral role in crafting wines that showcase the character and complexity of the Central Coast. "The Central Coast is an incredibly diverse region, and the source for some of California's most exciting wines," says Katie. "By applying the experience, vision and values that define the Duckhorn Portfolio to our Central Coast winemaking program, we are excited to be bringing this region and its amazing wines to an even wider audience of wine lovers."
