Chef Tyler Hansen of Restaurant Kelly Liken Takes Home Top Honors at the  7th Annual Colorado Lamb Cook-Off at Taste of Vail Media Contact:

Vail, Colo. - April 7, 2010 - The 21th Annual Taste of Vail kicked off this afternoon with the 7th Annual Colorado Lamb Cook-Off & Après Ski Tasting sponsored by the American Lamb Board. Chef Tyler Hansen of Restaurant Kelly Liken won top honors for his slow cooked Colorado leg of lamb. The lamb was served on a risotto cake with grilled ramps, braised nettles and Parmesan infused lamb jus. Second place went to Bully Ranch and third place went to Zacca Za! restaurant. The People's Choice winner was Atwater on Gore Creek.

The event, held throughout the streets of Vail Village, showcased 18 of the resort's finest chefs preparing an array of lamb dishes. From traditional preparation of lamb to creative recipes Vail chefs presented innovative selections showcasing Colorado lamb. Each tasting was complimented by participating wineries presenting varietals such as Reisling, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir, Shiraz and Zinfandel.

"Taste of Vail is a lamb lover's dream. These Colorado chefs make some of the most mouth-watering, creative local lamb dishes that you'll ever try," said Megan Wortman, executive director of the American Lamb Board. "The lamb dishes presented at Taste of Vail are sure to inspire home cooks to enjoy American Lamb more often."

The 21st Annual Taste of Vail is the nation's premier spring food and wine festival, held at several venues throughout North America's most popular mountain resort. In addition to the 7th Annual Colorado Lamb Cook-Off & Après Ski Tasting, the event features the Mountaintop Picnic at 10,350 foot above sea level on Vail Mountain, the Grand Tasting and numerous interactive seminars and winemaker dinners.
