  • Volunteers must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Volunteers must have a valid email address to submit an application.

Volunteer Selection Process

Response to the Volunteer Program for the Taste of Vail is always incredible. All applicants are important to us and we try our best to be fair about the selection process. Volunteers are chosen by the following criteria:

  • Applicant has volunteered in the recent past.
  • How many years an applicant has volunteered.
  • Applicant's past performance as a volunteer.
  • How early the applicant submits his/her online volunteer application.
  • Background and ability levels.

Volunteer Brief Descriptions Of Jobs

Position: Auction
Available Positions: 2
Time Frame: 2019-04-07 14:30:00 - 2019-04-07 21:30:00
Responsibilities:
Volunteering for the auction requires that you are computer literate and able to manage incoming data as well as adjust item availability in auction as required. We are looking for someone good in a fast paced environment.

Requirements:
You must work 7 hours to get a complimentary ticket to either the Debut of Rose, American Lamb Cook-Off, or the Mountain Top Picnic.

Position: Mountain Top Tasting
Available Positions: 16
Time Frame: 2019-04-05 08:00:00 - 2019-05-05 16:30:00
Responsibilities:
Setup: 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM
If you are helping the restaurants, you will be working at the loading dock and helping to get materials to the Gondola. If you are not helping the restaurants, you will be loading materials onto the Gondola and transporting them up top. Mountain Top set-up involves setting up tents, weights, moving grills and propane as well as setting up and moving tables, placing tablecloths, helping with signage, and the delivery of accessories (plates, etc). In addition, you may be asked to weight the tents, set out linens, install trash receptacles, and help deliver ice, wine cups, cutlery, plates and bowls as needed. You may have to lift up to 40 pounds.

Event and Breakdown: 9:00 AM - 4:30 PM
During the event, aid guests to locate tent/vendor locations. Help set up and maintain trash receptacles as well as keeping areas clean. Ensure wineries and restaurants have enough plates, bowls, cutlery, etc. Upon event completion, breakdown tents, tables, and tent signs. Haul wine boxes and trash to assigned locations. Combine soft goods, cutlery, bus tubs, etc and take to the loading area for the cat/trucks. Assist wine vendors bring leftovers to wine truck. Help load cats/truck/gondola/cars with previously mentioned items for next event or final destination. Finally, police the festival area and make sure it is clean and free of items.

Position: Registration
Available Positions: 65

Responsibilities:
Registration involves managing guests ticket orders and providing tickets to restaurants, wineries, and sponsors. This job requires computer skills and capabilities. You must know how to type efficiently and accurately and be able to enter individual data into Eventbrite. People skills are a bonus.

Position: Seminars and Brunch
Available Positions: 20
Time Frame: 2019-04-04 08:45:00 - 2019-04-06 19:15:00
Responsibilities:
Seminar volunteers help with event setup and break-down, which involves arranging tables and tablecloths, ensuring glassware and cutlery is in the right place, making sure seminar guests have all the items they need (plates, utensils, glasses, etc) and cleaning the area to make sure it is always looking clean and classy. Breakdown involves clean-up, bringing all wine to wine room (ensuring wine is not disappearing), and more.

Date and times vary from Thursday, April 4th to Saturday, April 7th. Remember, each seminar is approximately 3.5 hours and you need to work a total of seven hours to get a complimentary ticket.

Responsibilities:
It is the job of the sign volunteers to set-up all winery, restaurant, and sponsor signs for each event. This means delivering and setting up signs in designated areas by specified times Thursday through Saturday. You may have to lift up to 25 pounds.

You must work 7 hours to get a complimentary ticket to either the Debut of Rose, American Lamb Cook-Off, or the Mountain Top Picnic.

Position: The American Lamb Cook-off and Apres Ski Tasting
Available Positions: 9
Time Frame: 2019-04-04 09:30:00 - 2019-04-04 20:00:00
Responsibilities:
Setup/Breakdown: 9:30 AM -1:30 PM and 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM
Lamb operations involves setting up tents, moving grills and helping with restaurant setup, setting up and moving tables, placing tablecloths, helping with signage, and the delivery of accessories (plates, etc). Upon completion of event, volunteers will breakdown tents, grills, and tables, combine soft goods, cutlery, bus tubs, etc and ensure wines, restaurant materials, and signs are loaded to go to the next event. Make sure area is clean and free of items. You may have to lift up to 25 pounds.

Lamb Ticket Taker: 11:00 AM - 6:00 PM
Ticket takers for the Lamb will gather tickets from guests but also help with lamb set-up and breakdown, including setting up and moving tables, placing tablecloths, helping with signage, and the delivery of accessories (plates, etc). You may have to lift up to 25 pounds.

Requirements:
You must work 7 hours to get a complimentary ticket to either the Debut of Rose, American Lamb Cook-Off, or the Mountain Top Picnic.

Position: The Reserve Grand Tasting and Auction
Available Positions: 11
Time Frame: 2019-04-06 09:00:00 - 2019-04-06 22:30:00
Responsibilities:
Setup: 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM
The Grand Tasting set-up involves setting up and moving tables, arranging lighting, placing tablecloths, helping with signage, and the polishing and delivery of accessories (glasses, wine tubs, plates, etc). You may be asked to help restaurants and wineries load in and ensure they have enought glasses, wine tubs, plates, cutlery etc. Fill ice tubs and make sure the area is clean and ready for the event! You may have to lift up to 25 pounds.

Event and Breakdown: 3:30 PM - 10:30 PM
The Grand Tasting event and break-down involves helping wineries and restaurants set up and then checking on restaurants and wineries to ensure they have all the items they need (plates, utensils, glasses, etc) during the event. Aid guests to locate tent/vendor locations. Make sure area is always looking clean and classy. Breakdown involves clean-up, breaking down tables, bringing all wine to wine room (ensuring wine is not disappearing), and taking down signs and more. Finally, police the festival area and make sure it is clean and free of items. You may have to lift up to 25 pounds.

Position: Wine Room
Available Positions: 5

Responsibilities:
The Wine Room volunteers move wine into wine room and organize wines by type and event. This involves a lot of organization skills. You must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
