Wine had been prevalent in Patricks family for many years since his father, Proprietor Bill Foley, started Foley Estates in 1996. He had the privilege of working his first harvest at Chalk Hill Estate in 2011 where he quickly realized the Wine Industry was a much more enjoyable work lifestyle. Patrick then moved to New Zealand in the beginning of 2012 where he obtained his Masters in Viticulture and Enology from Lincoln University. He then worked as an enologist in Mendoza, Argentina for six months underneath the winemaking team at Nieto Senetiner. In 2013, Patrick moved back to California and worked alongside Winemaker Leslie Renaud at Roth Estate Winery in Healdsburg, CA as the Enologist. Patrick was soon promoted to Assistant Winemaker.
When asked about his new position as Winemaker at Foley Johnson, Patrick said, Foley Johnson is not only a beautiful property with great vineyards, it is also named as a tribute to both my parents heritage, which makes this winery one that is very close to my heart. I am excited for the opportunity to create wines from these great vineyards and to work with our consulting winemaker, David Ramey.
Because of his love for wine Patrick also enjoys cooking. When asked about his favorite foods to make he said, I cook mainly grill based foods, but after living in Argentina I enjoy doing Asadas which are cooked strictly from fresh wood coals and takes about 3 hours to cook anything. This style of cooking allows you to enjoy the company of your friends followed with wine and perfectly cooked meats.
When not working, Patrick can be found snowboarding, fishing, hiking, camping and doing anything in the outdoors with his side kick yellow Labrador, Nala. He also loves to travel and had the opportunity to recently attend the World Cup in Brazil.
Bill Foleys passion for great wine inspired his launching of Foley Family Wines in 1996. Since then, Foley Family Wines has grown to become a major producer, marketer and distributor of highly-acclaimed wines from some of the worlds greatest vineyards.
Bill received his B.S. degree in Engineering from the United States Military Academy at West Point. He served in the U.S. Air Force, where he attained the rank of Captain. Bill earned an M.B.A. from Seattle University and his J.D. degree in 1974 from The University of Washington School of Law. Bill is Chairman of the Board of Directors for Fidelity National Inc and Executive Chairman of Fidelity National Information Services. Both are Fortune 500 companies.
Bills wife, Carol Johnson Foley, was born and raised in Washington. She's a devoted mom of their four children, Lindsay, Robert, Courtney and Patrick. While she is actively involved in Foley Johnson she is also deeply passionate about the plight of underprivileged children in America. To this end, Carol and Bill founded the Foley Family Charitable Foundation which focuses on veterans and ensuring that children have access to visual and performing arts, regardless of financial ability. Carol is also an active Board member of the Jacksonville-based Cathedral Arts Project. Also known as capkids.org, this foundation provides access to instruction in the visual and performing arts for young people in Northeast Florida. By unleashing the creative spirit, they hope to empower underserved, school-aged children to succeed in all areas of their lives.
